Meet Gemma Bowman – Ibiza Wedding

Gemma Bowman, Ibiza Wedding

Very happy to be back with my Ibiza Wedding Planners and this new series. Today I’m chatting to Gemma Bowman of Ibiza Wedding. She’s  someone I’ve really wanted to get to know better and I’ve loved reading through her answers.

Gemma got married in the amazing San Agustin church which just happens to be in my local village and is one of my firm favourites. Read on to know more about Gemma and whether her wedding planning might just be perfect for you!

The Interview.

Tell me about yourself and Ibiza Wedding. How did you get started?

I got married here on the island in 2004 in San Augustin and noticed a real gap in the market. I was looking for someone to help me plan from the UK and there was no one offering planning services. We moved here in 2005 and a friend called me and said they had my first client and could I help. So thrown in at the deep end I started from there, planning 12 weddings in the first year and jumping to 30 by year 2. At the time there was one officiate, one photographer and a florist with very limited experience of weddings other than the super traditional Spanish affairs. When I look back and compare it to now it’s a world of difference!

What services do you offer your wedding clients? What can people expect?

We offer a bespoke high end wedding planning service. Everything from sourcing the venue, presenting options for catering, bar services, entertainment, decor and flowers, hair and make up. Then onto the cake, transport and all those small details that you wouldn’t even think about had you not planned a wedding before. We have a close and enjoyable relationship with our couples and go on a very special and memorable journey of bringing their visions and dreams to life. We also deal with all the practical aspects such as budget management, agreements with suppliers and the general logistics that come with any wedding, and in particular a destination wedding

Are there any particular venues or types of venues that you work with?

We work with many different venues on the island from boutique hotels, 5 star hotels and resorts, private villas, beach restaurants and beautiful, intimate eating spots in the campo

What, in your opinion, makes Ibiza so special for weddings?

Ibiza is like nowhere else. You can literally go from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, to an incredible restaurant, jump on a yoga retreat, go to one of the best clubs in the world, hire a yacht and visit the crystalline waters of Formentera. There is so much variety on such a small island and the vibe is very special. Impossible to put your finger on what it is but if you love Ibiza you love it hard!

Finally, why do you think having a wedding planner is so important?

We have spent the last 17 plus years building up an incredible black book of excellent suppliers. These have all been tried and tested and we are delighted to share them with our couples. We take all the stress out of the planning process, speak the lingo, understand how the island works and can introduce our couples to the perfect fit for their day. This isn’t a one size fits all approach, but a tailored and bespoke service. The average wedding taking around 400 hours minimum to plan so it’s fair to say that most of our couples don’t have the time to do this, nor do most of them know where to start.
