Ibiza is great for families!

Family holidays may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Ibiza, associated as it is for so long with parties and clubbing. The amazing parties will still happen, but family tourism is fast becoming Ibiza’s biggest market. Our family visitors are often seasoned hands who were once here as teenaged clubbers. People who came so many times that now they have their own children, they just have to introduce them to its magic. Or there are the first timers, a little nervous maybe, wondering what Ibiza is really all about. Either way, no matter who you are, once you’ve been here you’ll know that Ibiza is for everyone and everyone ends up loving Ibiza!

Ibiza is perfect for family photography! 

My most heard comment from first-time visitors & families is that they didn’t realise how beautiful Ibiza would be. I love hearing this! I also get asked a lot about where to go, which beaches are the best and what parts of the island are worth a visit. So this is my guide to the best places for family days out and for taking amazing photos.

If you know Ibiza then chances are you already know (and love) Cala Conta. Needing no introduction this beautiful cove & sunset mecca is the sandy jewel in Ibiza’s crown. The beautiful beach and impossibly turquoise waters are amongst the best in the world.
Early morning ferry boats glide into the tiny harbour throughout the day from San Antonio which is by far the best way to arrive. Residents and and repeat visitors will all tell you that Cala Conta can not be missed, and I can definitely confirm it’s one of the most gorgeous places for family photos.

It’s easy to get to and has plenty to stay for. Port des Torrent beach is a great day out for families staying in San An Bay. I love this pretty cove for photography, especially with families. The sea is a gorgeous turquoise, the beach a perfect backdrop and the pine clad rocks to the side of the provide a great shady spot for portraits and group shots.
Did I mention the sunset? Swerve those crowds found in other places and take a short stroll along the coastline for uninterrupted views.

The only place on the list that’s not a beach, pretty Santa Agnes can be found just a short drive out of San Antonio and makes for the perfect day trip. The village itself is teeny tiny sporting only a church and a couple of bars. One of these bars however, (Bar Cosmi) just happens to serve up one of best Spanish tortillas ever, so make sure you’re here for lunch!
This is the home of some of Ibiza’s most accesible and beautiful countryside, the perfect combination for great family photos. A small road winds around the local area and provides endless photo opportunities. There are lovely examples of traditional white washed houses, small farms, hundreds of almond trees and amazing views around every curve.

Benirras Beach is right up there with Cala Conta for amazing sunsets. It’s a little further away located in the San Miguel area and is a lovely drive if you have hired a car. If you don’t fancy this don’t worry, it also makes a great boat trip from San Antonio.
This beach has become famous for the Sunday hippy drumming sessions but also includes a cute little artisan market and some excellent restaurants. Personally I love this area for family photos and small ceremonies and the sunset never disappoints!

No Ibiza list is complete without Cala D’hort. It’s one of those places that you have to visit and never forget. Thanks to the spectacular scenery and Es Vedra looming large in the foreground, this is an amazing place for photography all year round.
The beach has a great mix of soft sand and rocky outcrops, perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Whilst off to both sides are fisherman’s huts, pretty piers and endless corners for cute photos. Personally my summer would not be complete without doing at least one shoot here!

So how does it work?

Location: If you’ve already booked your Ibiza holiday then we can start there. The easiest way of finding the perfect location is to keep it close to where you’re staying. Thankfully I know the island really well so can recommend some lovely spots anywhere 🙂
Alternatively you may already have an Ibiza place you love. In which case we can work out the best way of setting up there.

Photography: I am definitely included in this day! I love small ceremonies, not just for the amazing back drops but because of the beautiful photos I always get. There’s just something about it being just the 2 of you, or you and your closest people that makes for a very special atmosphere.

Ceremony Host: I’ll put you in touch with friendly and professional ceremony hosts who can create a personalised blessing you’ll love.

Drinks: No Ibiza Wedding is complete without something cold to toast with. Cava & Beers can all be organised for you.

Once in Ibiza we meet at the ceremony area before the day and go through everything. Then it’s time.

Ceremonies take place around an hour before sunset. Relaxed photos come as standard, and the edited shots returned to you in super quick time. After sunset enjoy your drinks, and then perhaps a chilled meal together at a restaurant of your choice, or I can book one of my favourites for you.

Ben & Sarah – Aguas de Ibiza Grand Luxe Hotel

The day was here. Blue skies and sunshine were in place so it was now just up to the venue to give that final wow and it didn’t disappoint!! Aguas de Ibiza is a 5* hotel in Santa Eulalia on Ibiza’s East Coast. The focus is on service with tons of style so it’s no wonder their weddings are so amazing!

The day began with cocktails and endless blue. Ben and his guests all arrived looking wedding ready and set about admiring the surroundings. Meanwhile Sarah put the finishing touches to her hair and make up downstairs.

The ceremony was hosted by the always lovely Melchior (https://www.instagram.com/melchior.ibiza/) who creates a seamless blend of spirtual, sentimental and relaxing vibes with a personal touch. With the guests assembled around the turquoise pool it was just the perfect setting for this declaration of love

End of ceremony and cold drinks and delicious canapes are enjoyed by all. Monica is the event and wedding planner at Aguas de Ibiza and with her directing the whole thing ran just perfectly. I think she managed to make every single person feel welcome and loved. This including myself so 5 stars go to her for that!

The time was over too soon. But before everyone headed off to a wonderful dinner at Sa Capella we made the most of our time using every photogenic area. We discovered there were loads! The rooftop area had so many great photo corners and the nearby beach was the perfect ending. I think it’s safe to say this is a venue which I’m going to LOVE coming back to!!

Ibiza Couple Shoot – Nimesh & Kirti

Nimesh and Kirti got in contact with me way back in winter with the idea of putting together an Ibiza couple shoot. They were in Ibiza as guests of a friends’ wedding at Elixir and with their own wedding coming up thought it would make a great photo reel for the reception.
Whenever a couple books me for a shoot the first thing to do is get out and investigate. So with that in mind I had already spent a lovely morning in April walking the beach, climbing the rocks, finding some great photo spots and generally enjoying my job!

Living in Ibiza for 20 years means I know a few nice places And I’m always happy to share them with my couples. If we’re not heading somewhere specific then the best place to go is close to where you’ll be staying. It makes things easier for you and means it doesn’t take too much time out of your day. This also turned out to be very handy as we had worked in an outfit change into the time.
Nimesh and Kirti were staying in the Palladium Palace White Island which sits almost at the end of Playa den Bossa beach. The obvious meeting place was the very lovely Coco Beach bar (great for sitting back and watching the waves btw!) From there we could have the best of both worlds, beach and some lovely rocky areas.

So we were off. First we crossed a small bridge and then headed up towards the tower above. The blue sea and sky was just so, well blue, it was amazing! And perfect for photos. It’s important at this early stage to get relaxed. Unless you’re a professional model or superstar it’s safe to say you’re not used to having your photo taken. This is why it’s so important to not only take nice pictures but to know how to put people at their ease. Something I’ve been working to perfect all this time!

After getting settled and getting some lovely shots we were off again and back to the hotel for an outfit change. The beach was the destination. I think it’s safe to say the now relaxed Nimesh and Kurti looked great in their matching blue outfits, against that backdrop it was just perfect!
