Hey lovebirds! Planning an Ibiza wedding is an epic adventure, but let’s be real – it’s also a whirlwind of excitement and potential pitfalls. Today, we’re diving into some common Ibiza wedding regrets and sharing expert tips to ensure your special day is everything you’ve dreamed of and more.

Common Ibiza Wedding Regrets – At a Glance

Based on my years of capturing unforgettable moments, here are some of the most frequent regrets I’ve heard from couples:

• Guest List Drama: Inviting everyone can be tempting, and you may feel some pressure to include certain people. But the beauty of a destination wedding often means a smaller, handpicked guest list. Prioritise those closest to you.
• Underestimating Costs: Beyond the venue and flights, hidden expenses can sneak up on you. Create a detailed budget and add a cushion.
• Overlooking the Heat: Ibiza is sunny and gorgeous, however it is also very hot. Don’t underestimate this for yourselves or your guests.
• Not Hiring a Planner: A local wedding planner can be a lifesaver, especially in unfamiliar territory. They know the best vendors and can handle the stress.
• Cutting Costs on Hair and Makeup: Friends may kindly offer to help with this and it may be tempting to just do your own makeup. The difference is ALWAYS obvious when professional make up hasn’t been used, take it from me.
• Not Enough Buffer Time: Your wedding day is incredible, but it can fly by and things just take longer. It’s easy to fall behind on the schedule which can impact on other important parts of the day.

No Regrets! How to Make Sure Your Ibiza Wedding Runs Smoothly.

Limiting Your Guest List Creates a More Meaningful Wedding.
This one is up there with budget for giving the most grief to couples on their wedding day. One of the most common regrets couples express is feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of guests. With an Ibiza wedding, a limited guest list naturally narrows down to the people who are truly close to you, creating a more meaningful celebration with less stress. Fewer guests mean you can connect with each person there, sharing more personal moments rather than rushing from one group to the next. This setup allows you to truly enjoy the company of your nearest and dearest without feeling the pressure of managing a large crowd. In my experience the ideal number is between 45-60 guests if you’re looking for a wedding with a party included, or you can go smaller, 2-20, if you would like to keep things super intimate and personalised.

Stay on Budget.
These are some costs to watch:
Unanticipated Vendor Fees
Many venues and some hotels, especially resorts, add fees for bringing in outside vendors like photographers, hair and make up artists, florists, or catering teams. Fees can range widely, so factor this into your budget from the start to avoid last-minute surprises. If you have to fork out for a day pass for your vendors and 6 bridesmaids who are staying in another hotel, that can be really expensive!
Travel and Transportation Costs
It’s tempting to cut costs here and suggest that guests arrive at your venue by taxi, this can be a big mistake and can have an huge impact on your day. Taxis in Ibiza are notoriously unreliable so booking transport for yourselves and for your guests is essential. Your venue or planner will be able to organise this for you, trust what they suggest, this is a really important element of your day to budget for!
Bridal Party Obligations
It’s so lovely to be surrounded by your favourite people as your bridal party and if you want 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen then you should certainly have them. However, it’s generally accepted that you pay for their outfits, so don’t forget to make sure you have the budget for this before you ask them! Personalised gifts are also a nice touch during the getting ready part of the day so this may be an additional expense to have in mind.

VAT (IVA) and Bank Transfer Fees
Some quotes you’ll receive are without VAT, don’t forget to double check it’s included as adding 21% on to some figures can make a massive difference. Bank transfer fees can also be steep, I recommend using services such as Wise or Revolut to cut down on these extra and unnecessary outgoings. Finally, some Ibiza vendors will ask for their payment in cash euros when you arrive. This is something to really pay attention to, if you have to go to your bank and withdraw a last minute large amount it could end up being complicated. Keep an eye on this as the amounts can soon add up and definitely don’t leave it until you get here as cash machines can only give out 300e/day.

Underestimating the Heat
You’ve booked Ibiza for your wedding so you can be sure of sunshine and the most beautiful backdrops, but the one of the Ibiza wedding regrets that I hear a lot about is just how hot it can get. It still surprises me all these years on! The heat is perfectly manageable but it can really get in your face if you and your guests aren’t prepared, so here are my own top tips to make sure you all enjoy the whole day:
Drink lots of water & don’t forget to eat. 
It sounds so simple and silly to mention, but with all those fizzy drinks flying about and people bringing you cocktails etc, water gets forgotten. Plan on hydration breaks every hour and if you feel giddy go straight for the full fat coke, it’ll sort you out in moments trust me Most couples also forget to eat, what with it all being a whirlwind. It can be a good idea to assign a bridesmaid the task of reminding you to eat and drink so you don’t forget.

Do you really need a wedding planner?
There are 100s of posts that will tell you how easy it is to plan your own wedding and why eliminating a planner is a great idea. In some cases this can be true, but if you are booking a full wedding day with various elements & suppliers that need to come together perfectly, then it’s essential for you to have a professional on board. Ibiza is blessed with excellent people who will literally streamline your day and take care of all the stresses for you. It’s hard to imagine how many moving parts there are to a wedding day and organising from abroad over email and video call can get frustrating. Consider leaving the heavy admin work to someone else so you can concentrate on the fun stuff & avoid having any Ibiza wedding regrets in the lead up to the day.

Professional Hair & Make Up – It seems pricey, can’t you just do it yourself?
This is one area where I have a strong opinion, do not do your own make up. You won’t be comfortable and the camera won’t like it! I’ve seen many brides and bridesmaids who are perfectly proficient at doing their own makeup at home, however when done here it just doesn’t work, it doesn’t stay on and it ends up streaked. This is one thing that’s worth the investment and you’ll know that both you and your bridesmaids will look amazing all day long.

Adding in Extra Time
You may heard of the 30/5 rule? It’s a good one to hold on to. You won’t believe this until you’re in it, but what takes 5 minutes in real life really will take around 30 minutes on your wedding day. Going to the toilet, moving around your venue, getting a few people together for a photo, all of these things can take an absolute age and play havoc with your timeline if you haven’t factored in some buffer. It’s a lovely thing, but everyone will want to talk to you as you pass by, they’ll also all want photos with you, so any thoughts of just nipping off to have a look at your tables before dinner or a quick visit to the loo will all take much longer than you think! Between each element of your day such as arrival at your venue and the ceremony itself, or after your drinks and canapes and before your meal, factor in some buffer time, that way you’re not behind before you’ve started.

• What is included in our Brochure? 

Everything included in your package is mentioned on the brochure you were sent when you booked. In the case of Sunset weddings, you will find all the package inclusions on pages 17 & 18. In the case of Midday weddings, all package inclusions can be found on pages 12 & 13.

• What are the different Cas Mila Ibiza Weddings Packages?

We have 3 different Packages you can choose from on our exclusive online shop.
– Cas Milà Standard Package: This is everything that is included in your brochure.
– Cas Milà Plus Package: Everything the standard package includes, PLUS some of our most popular extras to make your wedding more unique.
– Cas Milà Premium Package: Everything the standard package includes, plus some of our extras & decorations with natural flowers.

• How do I select one of the Cas Milà Packages?

It is very easy, you simply log in to your shop, click on the “packs” tab and scroll down the page where you will find all three packages. Click on the “select this package” button of whichever package you decide to choose, and you will automatically see at the top of your shop it will say the amount of your proforma, and under it the amount of the package you have selected.

• Can I just select the extras I want if I am not interested in the full packages?

Yes of course! The packages have been put together to offer you some of our most popular extras at a lower price than what it would be to add them in separately to your shop. However, if you do not want all the extras stated on the package, you simply have to select the standard package (the one that is included in your brochure) and select the extras you would like to add on from the extras tab on the main menu of your online shop.

• If I select a package but there are some services I won’t be using, will there be a deduction? 

If you decide to not use one or more services that are included in the package (for example, you are bringing your own celebrant, or photographer, etc.) there will be no deduction, these are closed packages and we cannot deduct any of the services from them.

• How do I access my online shop?

Once you have made your second payment, our sales manager will give you access to your online shop with your username and password. If you have booked your wedding more than 1 year in advance, you will have access to your shop, but you will not be able to select extras until the month of September before your wedding. This is because at the end of each season, during the month of September, the shop is reviewed and checked to see if any changes need to be made for the following season.

• When do my suppliers start to be confirmed?

Your shop has to be closed/confirmed 4 months before the wedding, or earlier if you are sure about the extras you want. Once we receive the confirmation of your shop closing, we will add the total amount of the extras/packages you have selected to your invoice and send it to you so you can make the payment. Once that is done, we then confirm all the extras and suppliers for your wedding day. The earlier you close your shop and confirm your extras the better! 

• What drinks are included during the meal?

During your meal, you will be served white wine, rose wine, red wine, water & soft drinks at your table. Your waiters will be going around filling your glasses during the whole meal.

• Can I bring some miniature drinks as favors?

No, no drinks brought from the exterior are allowed into the restaurant.

• What is the minimum number of guests we can have at our wedding?

The minimum number of guests for your wedding to be held at Cas Milà is 25 pax. 

• Do you have special menus for Vegans, Vegetarians, etc?

Yes of course, we have different menu options for Vegans, Vegetarians and also guests with allergies.

• Is the restaurant accessible for wheelchairs?

In the case of having a wedding with guests in wheelchairs, we would suggest getting married on our main terrace and not on our Rooftop, as the rooftop is not accessible for wheelchairs. These guests would not be able to access the chill out area which is where the welcome drinks and appetizers are held, however, the rest of the day would be held on the main terrace where they would be able to access without a problem.

• Is it possible to pay by card at the restaurant?

Yes, however, the service for the credit card machine is very bad. Down in the chill out area where the welcome drinks and appetizers take place, the bar is cash only because of this. There is a cash machine outside the chill out area to make it easier for you. 

• If our wedding is on the rooftop, is the party held there too?

No, the rooftop will be where your meal takes place, your speeches and your wedding cake. Once you have had your wedding cake, we will ask your guests to make their way down to the main terrace (where the ceremony was held) and gather around for the first dance. You will then come down the stairway to your first dance song and dance in the main terrace in front of your guests, after this the party will start until midnight, and then from midnight until 1am you will have to go inside the restaurant (you will be in a private area for your wedding party).

• Can the buses make several stops?

Yes, once you fill in the guest list and let us know where your guests are staying, we will pass the information on to the coach company and they will specify what stops they will be doing. We will then let you know, so you can inform your guests at what stop they will be picked up/dropped off.

• Is there any chance we can book taxis at the end of the evening to be taken back to our hotels?

Unfortunately, not. There is no such thing as pre-booking a taxi in Ibiza, especially during the summer season and at night. This is why, if you are not staying within walking distance, it is mandatory for you to book a return bus for you and your guests.

• What happens if it rains?

In the case of rain, everything would be held inside the restaurant. The ceremony would be held under our Sabina terrace and after that would set all the tables in the same area while you enjoy your appetizers in the interior room.

• Is the restaurant still open to other guests?

Yes, the restaurant is still open for other guests. You would have exclusivity of the restaurant if you have 100+ adults attending your wedding.

• Is there a limit of distance with transportation?

No, the bus prices include pick ups all over the island, however, if you are staying in a Villa we will have to enquire with the coach company first as sometimes the access to certain villas is not accessible for the buses.

• Is there a limit of distance with Wedding car?

Yes, the wedding car included in your package is for pick ups within the areas of: San Antonio, San Antonio Bay, Port D’es Torrent & Cala Tarida. Anywhere outside these areas will have an increase in the price.

• Can We bring our own DJ?

Yes, although Cas Milà’s DJ will also be there to assist him/her and make sure the equipment is used properly. (There will be no discount from your package if you bring your own DJ, as mentioned above, the package is a closed price).

• Can we tweak the timeline?

No, the timeline we have is set so that you have privacy during your ceremony (as there won’t be many people in the restaurant at that time) and also for your first dance & party.

The Ibiza speed wedding!

Can you plan and have an Ibiza wedding in 30 days? Yes of course you can!

As soon as I heard the story, I knew I was going to love them and their wedding! Caroline had originally booked a completely different venue and date and was looking for a photographer to come and take some relaxed photos of them all. Unfortunately, I couldn’t be there as I was supposed to be in the UK (sad face) But fate was on my side. Caroline changed her mind. And the venue and the date! Only potential obstacle, it was going to be in less than a month!

The end of October is gorgeous in Ibiza. The days can be warm and the sunsets are stunning. Only minor obstacle is the chance of rain. As luck would have it, Caroline and Owen missed a 2 day downpour and had their Cas Mila Ibiza wedding on one of the most beautiful days of the month. All’s well that ends well

I caught up with them to find out just what it was like to plan and have their Ibiza wedding in super quick time.

A little bit about you, what you do and why you wanted an Ibiza wedding.

This was a second marriage for both of us so we knew instantly that we didn’t want a big white wedding or all the stress and formalities that come with it.  We’ve come to Ibiza for holidays for many years so it’s very special to us and it has become our family’s “happy place”. There isn’t really anywhere else we would choose to get married! We got engaged in Palma, Majorca so the Balearics feature heavily in the story of us! 

How did you find Cas Mila and what made you choose it? 

We found Cas Mila online! We actually didn’t see the venue for the first time until the day before the wedding as Covid prevented us from making any trips out before the big day. But we couldn’t be happier with our choice.  We did watch many videos and read many reviews when making our choice so felt confident it was what we were looking for in terms of a beach front venue, amazing views and relaxed vibe! We knew we wanted our children to play a big part in our day so didn’t want anywhere too formal or stuffy!!

Describe the planning process and how it felt to organise a wedding so quickly?

Obviously due to Covid there was a lot of uncertainty. As well as having to move our original date, we only knew for definite that our wedding could go ahead 4 weeks before the big day!  So until then no planning had been done at all. It really was all organised in under a month!! We couldn’t have done it without our amazing wedding planners Olga & Leanne who were so calm and super organised. Their meticulous attention to detail made us feel very confident they’d leave no stone unturned to get everything planned and booked in time. And they didn’t disappoint, we wouldn’t have changed a thing! They delivered on every single level. 

Tell me about your experience getting married at Cas Mila?

Cas Mila was everything we could have hoped for and more. A beautiful beachfront setting overlooking a stunning beach. The views are just amazing and we were so lucky to have clear blue skies and sunshine followed by the most incredible sunset. The whole set up of the wedding area is done to make the most of the beautiful view. Everyone at Cas Mila went above and beyond to make our day absolutely perfect. The food, the service, the organisation and professionalism were all just spot on. So many of our guests said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to which is some praise indeed! I genuinely couldn’t recommend this venue enough, we are so pleased we chose it. 

A few words about your photographer  

Anne, you were a pleasure to have at our wedding. You listened to what we were looking for from our pictures and instantly made us feel relaxed. You were there to capture every moment but in a discreet way and never in our faces. We were so happy with our photos. 

What are your favourite Ibiza places, beach, restaurants or bars?

Well obviously now Cala Tarida will obviously be a very special place to us and we’ll definitely be back. The beach there is just beautiful and perfect for young children. We usually stay in Cala Llonga on the other side of the island but I think after a week enjoying the most amazing sunsets we are now forever more sold on this side of the island!! Visiting Es Vedra to watch the sunset one evening was in particular a special moment.  We would definitely recommend hiring a car to explore the island – as well as Ed Vedra we also visited Time & Space and the abandoned festival club both of which are well worth visiting! We love the Sunset Ashram for food and drinks in a beautiful spot.

Ibiza Wedding Photography Made Easy…

Do you enjoy posing? I bet I can guess the answer to that!
Hands down THE sentence I hear most from couples is ‘we’re not really very posey’ or ‘we’re not really camera people.’ This is often whispered to me at the end of our wedding meeting along with a bit of a grimace!

First up don’t worry 🙂 Hardly anyone feels accustomed to being in front of a camera. A few seconds at a time for a quick snap or selfie is the limit for most of us. That’s where your photographer comes in. I’ve been an Ibiza Wedding Photographer for over 10 years and love to put you at your ease. When couples tell me things like ‘we really enjoyed that’ or ‘that was actually good fun.’ I love it, to me that’s job done!

So to put your mind at rest I’m going to share with you my best wedding photography tips to ensure you have a stress free experience and get the photos you’ll love.

My top 7 Ibiza Wedding Photography Tips:

1. Shake it out and relax.

1. Shake it out.
The best photos always happen when you’re relaxed. Think of those happy holiday pictures with friends. So the first thing to do is have a little shake. Release the tension and feel more at ease. Does this look silly? It does but don’t worry it helps me too so we can all look mad together!

2. Enlist the helper(s)
When we meet before the day itself, one thing we’ll discuss are helpers. Now this may seem slightly odd having to engage your bridesmaids or friends to help you with your clothes but trust me it really works. Not only does this mean your dress/veil/hair are always perfect, but having people you know and feel comfortable with helps make you relax and laugh. This is turn is great for me!

3. Breath and be Natural.
Focus on your breathing and don’t make too much effort with your faces. Natural and neutral can look so good. Be yourself!

4. Don’t stop moving.
If you’re moving, then you’re creating photos. Whether it’s swooshing the veil. Looking at the rings together. Doing different things with your hands. It’s all good and saves you from feeling like you’re stuck. I love directing these moments. But believe it or not, you’ll soon get the hang of it and will create tons of great moments yourselves.

5. Stay flexible.
It’s amazing how quickly the stiff shoulders can set in. Keep them low and keep your arms with a slight bend. That goes for your body too! Dropping your weight to one side with relaxed arms can change an ok image to one with wow.

6. Take a moment.
It’s your day and you’re in Ibiza! The best place in the world to get married. So I often back away and just let you be. Take in the surroundings, sit for a moment, talk and laugh. These photos will look amazing afterwards.

7. Feel the love.
Be close and tell each other how in love you are. Looking into each other’s eyes may sound cheesy but try it and I bet you’ll get the best smile back! This by the way is also a great photo!

Ibiza Wedding Venue Questions. The Things You Need to Know…

Firstly congratulations! If you’re reading this, then you’ve got engaged and you’re thinking of getting married in Ibiza. With that choice I already know you have impeccable taste!  One of the first things, if not the very first thing to book is your venue. This choice should reflect you and your personalities and also be amazing for your guests. So not much to ask then! Ibiza is bursting with beautiful wedding venues. Beaches, Clifftops, Gardens, Villas, there’s something for every couple. But how do you choose which one is best for you? And especially when you’re so far away? These are my top 10 things to bear in mind when making your choices, whether your’re here visiting in person or deciding online. No matter what type of wedding you’re dreaming of these are the things you must know…

The Ibiza Wedding Venue Questions to consider…

Location 

Not only does your Ibiza Wedding Venue need to wow you, but you also need to find it! From personal experience there are a fair amount of places which although amazing require lots of map work and sturdy vehicles to get to them. If you are visiting in person (which I recommend) then you should time how long it takes to arrive at each potential venue. Was it difficult to find? Remember your guests will not arrive prepared for a cross-country hike! 

Flexibility

Not surprising to see this one move up the list! It’s an essential that’s super important at the moment and going forward. Should you be unable, or indeed uncomfortable about travelling once your date comes around what policy does your venue have in place? It’s important to ask and have clear exactly how many times you can postpone, what the terms are regarding this, and how soon before the day you can do this. Will there be a fee or will you lose a deposit already paid. Ibiza’s most popular and professional venues will have no problem helping you with these queries.

Hygiene & Safety

We’re all very aware of new levels of cleanliness and hygiene and your Ibiza Wedding Venue is no exception. Important questions to ask are what protocols will be in place for guests on arrival, what can they expect and how will things play out during the day. A quick scan around should tell everything you need to know but there’s no harm asking and having things clear.

Transport Options

No matter how tempted you are to ‘just let everyone get taxis’, it’s never a good idea. Ibiza has a notoriously unreliable taxi system which can’t be pre-booked. This often results in late arrivals delaying the ceremony and a large number of people stranded at the end of the night. Not good. Therefore your Ibiza wedding venue needs to be accesible by coach or at least mini bus. All professional venues & planners will have excellent transport contacts and be able to easily arrange for you and your group to arrive and leave with zero hassle.

Accessibility

It’s likely you’ll have a mixture of families and older guests at your Ibiza Wedding. Will they be able to move easily around the venue? Is it safe? Whilst a cliff-side stunner might be your dream, would your guests with children feel the same?
Make sure you check where each part of the day will take place and how guests will move between each area. 

Ceremony Area

Where is this? Is there shade and will it be peaceful when your ceremony takes place? Some Ibiza Wedding Venues are next to big hotels which can get very lively of an evening. Your viewing might take place in the morning so you may miss how noisy things can get for your ceremony and reception. Be sure to ask about this.

Location: If you’ve already booked your Ibiza holiday then we can start there. The easiest way of finding the perfect location is to keep it close to where you’re staying. Thankfully I know the island really well so can recommend some lovely spots anywhere 🙂
Alternatively you may already have an Ibiza place you love. In which case we can work out the best way of setting up there.

Photography: I am definitely included in this day! I love small ceremonies, not just for the amazing back drops but because of the beautiful photos I always get. There’s just something about it being just the 2 of you, or you and your closest people that makes for a very special atmosphere.

Ceremony Host: I’ll put you in touch with friendly and professional ceremony hosts who can create a personalised blessing you’ll love.

Drinks: No Ibiza Wedding is complete without something cold to toast with. Cava & Beers can all be organised for you.

Once in Ibiza we meet at the ceremony area before the day and go through everything. Then it’s time.

Ceremonies take place around an hour before sunset. Relaxed photos come as standard, and the edited shots returned to you in super quick time. After sunset enjoy your drinks, and then perhaps a chilled meal together at a restaurant of your choice, or I can book one of my favourites for you.

Natural Wedding Photography & How It’s Created…

Have you ever looked at amazing natural wedding photography and thought how are we ever going to achieve this?!
Posing and having all the attention on you can be a scary pressure. Especially if you’re not armed with some info beforehand. But fear not and read on… these are best methods for achieving those comfortable and carefree looks you’ll love! 

 1. Look at each other for 5 seconds.

Have you ever tried looking at your partner for 5 whole seconds? This is usually the result! It’s a fun, natural look which has love & happiness written all over it! I got this couple to do exactly that and they couldn’t stop laughing. Those 5 seconds made for at least 10 great pictures.

  2. Walk away and come back.

Yes simple as that. I usually ask for a slow walk with a few looks, a kiss is also encouraged! It’s an effective way of getting some great shots and all you have to do is concentrate on holding hands and looking great against the scenery.

3. Look at your hand or shoes.

It’s nice to take the attention away from the lens as much as possible, so a few glances at other things is a great way to ease this worry. This is a great shot when the bride is on her own. Once there’s something else ‘to do’ it’s amazing how relaxed a person can become.

4. Work that Veil.

I love a veil especially if there’s a bit of a breeze. Moving it around with your hands whilst looking into the distance looks great, and it’s lots of fun! You may feel a bit strange at first but when you get shots like these it’s all worth the effort. The best thing about these shots is you have your back to me so all that’s needed is a bit of movement to give the image lots of wow.

5. Look away, look at me.

Having things to do no matter how simple makes for much more natural looking images. Whenever someone says smile at the camera it has the effect of tensing up the shoulders and then this weird, scared smile happens! With this addition of a small movement the look back at me always results in lovely portrait shots.

6. Get the groom to compliment the bride.

I know, he’s done this lots of times already!! But a whispered comment always makes the bride laugh and it makes for a beautiful moment.

7. The almost kiss.

Kissing is a minefield, there is always the danger it can distort the faces a little. So having the couple almost kiss is a nice way of achieving a different kind of image. Holding the couple in place for a few seconds usually also gets a little smile or a laugh which means lots more lovely pictures for you.

8. Whisper in her ear.

Similar to the compliment, I use this method for a closer shot and usually so I get some nice laughter. Hopefully the groom will say something nice, but it has been known for him to tell the bride that he’s hungry, so some direction is occasionally needed!

9. Smile at someone else.

You don’t want to spend all your time grinning into the camera. For couple shoots it’s always recommended to invite a bridesmaid or helper along. This is primarily to assist with shoes and dress but she can also be a lovely help for getting a warm and natural smile.

10. Silhouettes.

One of my favourite shots! Silhouette posing is all about getting some distance between you and staying still. This one requires some direction but the list of nice poses is long and each shot will definitely be worthy of a place in your album.

You’ve spent lots of time investigating photographers on Instagram/Facebook/websites and you already know the style you like. But then once you’ve decided, what’s next? What expectations should you have for your Ibiza wedding photographer, and what can they expect from you?
Choosing your wedding photographer is very personal. It’s an essential element of the day and the images are going to live with you for a lifetime. Therefore, it’s important both yours and your photographer’s expectations are clear and compatible from the outset. It will make things so much easier later on!

Preparation…

Most wedding photography packages will include getting ready. Some couples would like both bride and groom coverage, whilst others would just like to focus on the bridal party. This is the first thing to clarify. If you’re both in the same place getting ready, a villa for example then your photographer will have no problem capturing both bride and groom. However, if you would prefer a more thorough coverage, you’re in 2 hotels or even in the same hotel but in different rooms this may not be possible. It’s often recommended in these situations to have a second shooter on board.

It’s up to you how much preparation to include, but as a guide it’s usually 1-2 hours before the bride leaves for the venue. If the dress is on and you’ve a moment for the first time reveal to family 15-20 minutes before you set off that’s amazing! Then your photographer can happily skip off to the venue, set up and have a few moments with the groom before your make your arrival.

Arrival at the Venue…

Every photographer knows that those moments between arrival and the start of a wedding can be very tense. So your arrival and photos with bridesmaids & family are all taken calmly and quickly. It’s ideal to discuss with your photographer beforehand if you would like any additional photos at this point. It’s easy to forget with so much happening all at once.

The Ceremony…

Things happen quickly during a wedding ceremony. It can be easy for small but important details to be missed. Be sure to talk your wedding photographer through the ceremony you’ve created with your celebrant and outline and special moments which aren’t to be missed.

The Couple shots…

A moment of dread for most! But with good communication beforehand, this should be an enjoyable moment for you both. It’s where your most amazing photos get created, the ones you’ll want to share forever. We understand that most people aren’t comfortable in front of a camera. If you are nervous about this moment, be sure to tell your photographer this. They will put you at ease and explain the process.

It’s also recommended finding out from your venue how much time you will have for the couple shots and what time they will happen. Sunset in Ibiza no matter which side of the island you are on is a super important time for the best photos. Find out in advance what time the sun sets on your date and ask for your timings to make allowances for this moment. We may also need to take a guest or 2 to help us, so it’s good to have asked them in advance if that will be ok. As a final note, don’t forget the flip flops! Even if the bride puts on her shoes at the beach, it’s essential that she can arrive there safely and we also avoid very unhappy feet!

The Meal…

No one likes a photo of themselves eating so usually this is your photographer’s break time and will put the camera down for a while until the speeches begin.

Cutting the cake and the First dance…

Once the speeches are over your wedding planner will usually get the party started by asking you to cut the cake if you have one and then begin your first dance. As these events usually unfold naturally, your photographer will be on hand for each moment. However, if there are any surprises or out of the ordinary events planned, then let your photographer know. They will want to be in the right place at the right time getting the best photos possible. 

Your Wedding Essentials…

• The full name and a map if needed of where you’re staying.
• Mobile contact details for the photographer and make sure they have yours.
• List of possible helpers on the day for group photos and the couple shoot.
• Flip Flops!
• List of any special moments or events which will take place. When they are scheduled to happen and where.
• Sunset timings.
• What happens if things run over? Does your photographer charge for extra hours?
• Have Fun! It’s the best day of your lives!
